Amarillo Sandies 27, Lee Rebels 20

Amarillo - The Rebels looked to be well on their way to knocking off Amarillo High in Dick Bivins Stadium... then came injuries.  Lee had two quarterbacks suffer concussions and a cornerback likely tearing his ACL, as the Rebs fell to the Sandies 27-20.

Lee went the entire first quarter without a first down, but came back in the second with two touchdowns to take a 14-10 lead into the half. The Rebels held the Sandies to just two first downs in the second quarter and wound up posting 188 total yards of offense to the Sandies’ 79 in the first half.  Jace Edwards rushed for 135 yards, while scoring the two TDs.

After suffering a concussion, Adrian Horton took over for Edwards.  Horton piled up 128 total yards of offense in the second half, and led a Lee in a scoring drive. With 6:08 left in the game, Austin Jumper scored from 1 yard out, tying the game at 20. However, the point-after was blocked.  Horton suffered a concussion on the play and was unable to take the field when Lee got the ball back with 24 seconds left.
