The Coronado
T-Birds utilized a four touchdown second quarter to eliminate the
Rebels from the state playoffs. Lee made a valiant effort in
the fourth quarter, but it just wasn't enough as Lee fell 49-27 in
the Bi-District clash.
The Rebels drew
first blood on a 57-yard scoring drive, capped off by a 16-yard
Austin Jumper run to take a 7-0 lead. Coronado answered with a
10-yard touchdown run from Sam Brown and the first quarter ended
tied. After Coronado took a 28-7 lead, Lee finally earned a
first down for the first time in nearly 12 minutes. Jace Edwards
passed for 197 yards, rushed for 34 yards, and had two touchdowns.
The T-Birds rushed for 367 yards on 52 carries, led by Brown who
rushed for 193 yards and five touchdowns.
